ubuntu - How to reset or change the MySQL root password? -


how change mysql root password , username in ubuntu server? need stop mysql service before setting changes?

i have phpmyadmin setup well, phpmyadmin updated automatically?

set / change / reset mysql root password on ubuntu linux. enter following lines in terminal.

  1. stop mysql server.

    sudo /etc/init.d/mysql stop

  2. start mysqld configuration.

    sudo mysqld --skip-grant-tables &

  3. login mysql root.

    mysql -u root mysql

  4. replace yournewpassword new password!

update mysql.user set password=password('yournewpassword') user='root'; flush privileges; exit;

note: method not regarded securest way of resetting password. works.
